The Great Wall of China, world’s longest construction is far beyond a regular holiday destination or a tourist enchantment. It is really a wonderful creativity of man that boasts of the excellent craftsmanship of the creator. People generally correlate it with the defensive stroke against the invading forces but it is not so. The Great Wall of China is a true symbol of world peace, harmony and humanity. The magnificent view of this astonishing site is really impossible to define in words. The backdrops unveiling this spectacular wall are really breath-taking. 

Historical Overview
The Great Wall of China was originally built more than 2000 years ago by the first Chinese emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi during the Qin Dynasty. The emperor linked and enlarged the existing four ancient fortification walls with North China after vanquishing and connecting China to the seven different Warring States. The armies were positioned to encounter the invading Hsiung Nu tribes. There were some signal fires that indicate probable attacks beforehand.

Mount Hua, China

China’s Hua Shan is one of the Five Sacred Daoist Mountains located in the country. Hua Shan has five main peaks, with the 2160m (7086ft) tall South Peak being the highest. Hua Shan, literally Splendid Mountain, has been home to Daoist temples as far back as the second century BCE. Today, it is popular with monks and tourists alike, though tourists have only been visiting the mountain for a few decades.  Traditionally, a journey up Hua Shan’s dangerous steep and narrow pathways was reserved only for the most determined monks. But in the 1990s cable cars, pictured above, and handrails were installed to allow easier access for tourists. Hua Shan is located roughly 100km East of the city of Xi’an in China’s Shaanxi Province.

Taklamakan Desert, China

The Taklamakan Desert (or Takla Makan Desert) is the 15th largest sandy desert in the world, covering 320,000 square kilometers (123,550 square miles). It is located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The desert is seen mainly by those crossing it on the road between the towns of Hotan and Luntai. The famous Silk Road edges around the Taklamakan Desert so travelers of the past could avoid crossing its dangerously dry center. Mummies dating over 4,000 years old have been found in the region, along with other interesting artifacts. The Taklamakan Desert isn’t on the tourist map at all, but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful.

The Leshan Giant Buddha – The Stone Statue Known For Its Solemn Stillness

The Leshan Giant Buddha is the tallest stone statue of Buddha in the world. It is situated near Leshan in China. The stone statue is headed towards the Mount Emei. The statue is considered as the tallest one in the world. It is not only the tallest but also the largest figure of Buddha. It is designed in the traditional Chinese style and gives a brief insight about the architecture of the Tang Dynasty. The giant figure is about 71 meters high. It took a very long time to complete the statue taking around 90 years and thousands of artisans to fully design and built it. The construction began in the 713 and was completed in 803. The stone carved figure was designed and constructed by Haithong. He was the biggest follower of Buddha and when he was collecting the amount for building the statue he was greatly harassed. So he donated his eyes to shoe how strong his beliefs were. When he died the construction was left in between then after a huge span of time, a disciple of Haithong thought of completing the work of his master. Thus it was finally completed by him in 803.
